    Default 87 Pontiac Grand Am issues....

    a friend of mine at work has one, it's a cheap beater and she's hoping it'll last another year while she saves up to purchase something alot better. here's the info......

    "the car runs... just stalls after a driving over 50 mph for more then 15 mins and if you dont give it enough time to down shift before you stop"

    please help.

    This isn't a J body lol. Most likely cause is if it has an overdrive trans is that the torque converter lockup is sticking. If its 4spd auto you'll just wanna disconnect it to find out. Should be a squarish 4 position connector going into trans

    Similar thing happened to my 92 cavalier at about 250K mi. Torque converter was f'd. Dropped the trans, got a rebuild kit and dug in. Problem solved.
