any word on modding this badboy with the turbo version?
any word on modding this badboy with the turbo version?
I would imagine the 'badboy' turbo engine will be quite difficult to mod much past a tune and breather parts.
Who knows what pressure the fuel system is limited to, I doubt as high as the more hp a cyl LNF, and the turbo and mani are one piece...wouldn't surprise me if the DP was one piece too.
Hate to stomp out possibilities and all but the 1.4 DI will not be the best choice IMO for a performance variant
Isn't the the 'badboy' turbo engine still going to be a 138 HP turbo 1.4?
Not much of a fan on the Cruze at all, the only thing it has going for it is the nicer interior and little better MPG. Maybe GM will make a good looking SS version after a year or two
The reason why I quoted 'badboy' earlier...because the ECO model...advertised as a frickin ECO MODEL...won't be the 'badboy' model.
Just because it has a turbo on it people doesn't mean it's the fastest model...
There is no "badboy" model.....but if there was it would actually be the base model..... 1.8 and 6speed manual. Just put on your turbo of choice. The ECO has a triple overdirve trans and the LT/LTZ arent available manual trans.
I need to engage in homicidal activity on a massive scale......

yeah turbos are tiiiiineeeeeeyyyyyyyy...we had 2 in the lobby a while back...while the interior is comfy...i wouldnt buy one for performance...
.
w3rd. this car was obviously not meant for performance. and that's ok. apparently gm has put 4 banger "tuner" car's on the back burner for the moment. and that's ok. the market for them has kinda sucked. other than the ss slobalt and the way back in the days sema shows with "tuner" j-body's gm has done little to nothing to market toward's that crowd. we shall see. but i would not hold my breath for an ss cruze. nor should there be honestly. the cobalt never deserved that badge imo either. and i'm not saying that because i don't like cobalts. i truly don't feel it deserved it. maybe the ss/tc, but that's even a far cry from the once legendary ss badge.
You mean like the 70s Chevelle SS's that came with a 140hp V6 deserved it more?
And the Camaro SS wasn't even the fastest Camaro sold....so riddle me this, what did the SS stand for?
It was an APPEARANCE package back then...at least it was a performance package today.
Even the 4th gen Camaro SS's weren't the fastest ones.
Even though I love the old GM 60s and 70s muscle, in stock trim between them and the Cobalt SS, both the SC and TC versions could take down a lot of them in the 1/4 mile. Recent GM offerings that come to mind that didn't really need the SS badge that come to mind, the Malibu, Cobalt 2.4, crapbox FWD V8 impala, and the Silverado
theyre done with the whole SS badge I remember whatever article where gm was talking about slapping too many SS's on mediocre cars. IE Malibu,FWD Impala, and Monte Carlo. The silverado was a nice SS, the trail blazer ss kept up with the SRT Cherokee. but GM compacts get such stigma about being crap because of lack of performance and appearance of the baretta, cavalier, and lumina the Cobalt was doomed. No matter what engine is put in the car people still regard it as sub-par because of the stigma i get it all the time, until they see the car or race me. Just look at the article about GM's President of international sales or whatever saying how he doesnt know how the cobalt got through to the consumers and how they were just crap. GM just needs to stand by their cars, and maybe its just me but i think they can do a bit more for the LNF than just a stage 1 kit (which rocks)
