    Default Ignition Removal

    So guys

As I stated in the general thread last week I need to remove the Ignition cylinder in the cavi I just got. I took the surround off and im down to the yellowish plastic holding the cylinder, but I cant seem to get the cylinder to release. What am I missing here??? Whats holding the cylinder in place?

    Thanks

    Shane

key in, and there is generally a pin in the side of the barrell to be depressed and and anti theft switch at the bottom and that can only be removed by breaking it and u gotta buy a new one. on delta's anyway it seems to be SOP for anti theft how ez doyou want to make it for car thieves?

1997 Cavalier, Automatic, Im thinking its a 2.2......So update on this, I was able to remove the Ignition Cylinder. But Im having to replace the entire Steering column cos they drilled a hole at the back of the cylinder to try and get the cylinder out... Stupid Idiots...This is going to be fun!

If it's not a Z24, than yeah it has the older style 2.2. 98 got the 2200.

    Good luck!

You would know if it was a 2.4

It would say it on the valve cover real big and be DOHC.

    97 more than likely the 2200 p00shrod

Pre 98 LN2s are not the 2200. That is how they distinguish 98+.
