Thread: LNF Powered Airboat

  1. #1

    Default LNF Powered Airboat

I'am Chuck Rackley of Lake Panasoffkee Florida. I joined the site last night. This site seems to have everything when it comes to small engines. We are building an Airboat that is powered by the LNF, 2.0 Turbo Ecotech. We got the engine from a wreaked HHR SS in NC. The engine had 1000 miles on it. We are installing the stage 1 kit and the Modern Performance Intercooler and Catless Downpipe. The engine was a 2008 standard shift and the ECM was damaged. We got an ECM from a 2009. We purchased a new X1 wiring harness which has 96 pins in the ECM connector. The other harness that plugs into the ECM, The X2 harness, we can't find the part number to order it. Our local dealer has ordered 2 harness for us and both are wrong. The X2 harness has a 58 pin connector that plugs into the ECM. Knowone seems to be able to find the part number for this wiring harness. If someone can help, please chime in. Here is a picture of our project.

This is awesome! Hopefully you are able to get it running good, I wanna see it in action.

That is bad ass!! There's a member on fail.net that is selling parts off his totaled car, I think Paul is also IIRC. Either should be able to sell you that harness you need.

I thought Chuck may get some input over here, he's had a thread on lnfperformance for a while. More pics up on it over there. Pretty awesome project!

Thanks tommyp, BackyardTurbo, and BLAZIN07SS. I will check out the fail.net.
Hey Steddy, where you circled is where the 58 way connector plugs in. That is the harness i need. We will be taking the circuits out that we don't need to make the engine run in a standalone application. Here is a picture of the Turbo side.

    Thanks, Chuck

I don't think the engine will run without a BCM

Vince @ Trifecta can make that PCM work as a standalone.

We now have the ability to make these engines and ECMs work without the body control module!

Chuck is working with a GM engineer on the programming IIRC to make it run standalone.

Jay is the Marine engineer that was trained at GM for setting up the LS engines for marine applications. When i get the last harness, he will come by and help me make the changes to the wiring and reprogram the ECM. His last project was the LS3 Supercharged engine. I think it turned out 620 HP.
    Thanks, Chuck

That harness is over $800 iirc.
    Just make your own
The connector itself is 19225599. You'll need terminals 1928498058. About a half dozen. These are in tray 8 if your dealer is up to date.

You also need terminals 1928498135. Probably 45 or so for your application get 60 to be sure. Again if your dealer is good they'll have some (but not 60) of these in tray 19.

You'll need crimper J38125-7, J38125-6, and J38152-641. These are worth their weight in gold on all modern GM electrical systems and readily available on ebay. Even if you bought hanrnesses I would still recommend these 3 crimpers for a custom modified harness like you'll have.

Hey Jn2, this boat will be used in the Rivers in Alaska. We have built them 2 boats and now they want one that will be good on fuel cost. They pay about $ 7.00 per gal.
    Thanks, Chuck

    Where'd the gearbox come from?

Hey TTMR, The Gearbox is called a Rotator manufactured by Panther Airboats. This one has a 2.68 to one ratio. At 5000 rpm's, the prop will be turning about 1865 rpm's. We hope to be over 900 ft lbs on the prop shaft. The gear box is designed for SBC, BBC, and Caddy motors. We had to get the 3 inch adaptor made to bolt up to the LNF engine. It came out real nice.
Hey Iam Broke, Maven does know what is going on and he is getting older too. Happy Birthday Maven.
