Thread: HPTuners vs Trifecta 2.2

    Default HPTuners vs Trifecta 2.2

Would I be better off going to a dyno around here that has HPTuners and getting tuned by them or going with trifecta? A lot of people that go with trifecta on the 2.2 like it but if there is more power to be had with HPT I will see about getting dyno tuned? I probably wont be doing it anytime in the near future but 3-4 months may be a possibility. Most L61 I have seen with SRI,2.4 mani, 2.4 TB and full exhaust with Trifecta are good for around 160whp depending on dyno. Would I see much more with HPTuners?

    TB is a useless mod.

160whp would depend on header and aggressiveness of the tune...and beings that it would be from Vince not very.

Also would depend on the dyno.

TF you can't 'dyno tune' and depending on the year of the 2.2 you're not going to be able to tune it...and even so you need to know someone who can nag HPT enough to add your VIN to their OS since the 2.2s(08 only) is a Beta.

    Honestly you're splitting hairs tuning a 2.2 N/A

You'll add a decent amount of power under the curve, but won't add almost any real top end power.

Trifecta is lightly tweaked can tunes. HPT is fully custom everytime. Unless your tuner is a jagbag

I guess I should add that I have an 07 with the e37 ecu. I thought HP would be past the beta stage and be able to tune at dealers by now.

I can tune 07 2.2s and other cars using the e37. Worked out great, ask BRAGS maybe he will chime in.

HPT can totally do 07's with your PCM now. 2.23 has been a beta since forever, but each incremental release is fairly stable nonetheless.

Both Sean and steddy are right, either way you not going to gain much top end. But under the curve and raising redline will help you out for sure. I was running 28 degrees timing on my hptune put down 145 on mustang dyno very happy with tuned performance. Back to stock now and it sucks compared to before
