Thread: hp tuners

    Default hp tuners

ive been thinking of gettign a tune for my lnf and ive been floating between doing the byt combo tune or just getting an hp tune for now until my car gets more miles on it and a different clutch. If i do go with the hp tune though do they work the same as trifecta pretty much with the install and everything? Would i be able to buy a cable for them and would i be able to put the tune on myself? Also i have read something about hp points would i just buy points to get my tune? Last question is does hp have a selectable tune like trifecta? Thanks.

With hpt, you have to tune the car yourself or have someone else do it for you.

    More information

BYT uses HP Tuners. HP Tuners is just the software. They do not offer tuning services/solutions like Trifecta.

They do not offer selectable tunes. You need 2 credits to unlock your car individually, and 6 to unlock all vehicles for the year your car was made. They give you everything you need to tune the car yourself, and there are plenty of good tuners on here if you dont want to do the tuning yourself. Don't waste your money on the pro version if you do invest in HP Tuners.

Check out there web page though. All the information you want is on there...

Exactly. Just get my man Nick (BYT) to tune it for you. He's one of the best tuners we've got to offer.

yeah i really want the combo tune but dont know how long my clutch would hold up with all that torque lol, and would i need the module to flash my ecu back to stock? or what all would i need

We can make the tq spike less, that's the beauty of custom tuning. I haven't tuned a car in awhile that had clutch issues, that was more of a pill mod problem.

    Stock turbo=stock clutch

If you 'need' a clutch with a tune, it's more or less bad driving habits if you're on the stock clutch.

I wouldn't say the "pro" version is a waste of money...

The inputs allow you to log widebands and other things. This is especially nice on the LSJ's which lack factory wideband o2 sensors.

If you have an LNF there's no need for a pro version because you can log lambda with the standard version

Hence i said LSJ silly goose. I know the thread is for an LNF, but i still don't see it as a waste.

It may not be necessary, but it's not a waste. And it would be interesting to be able to log other things like a pyrometer etc. just for records and info purposes.

ok byt i will stay with the combo tune then i was gonna have trouble with funds which was why i was thinking of doing the just hp tune instead of the combo but if i sell my rims tonight i will be gettign the combo one, also is there any downside to getting it tuned now instead of when it gets warmer out?

also could i just get the obd2 cable on this page http://www.hptuners.com/order.php to return to stock? or no since it is just the cord and does not have the box with it

You would have to buy the HP Tuners kit to flash anything to the car yourself, $500.

You can always do the HP Tune now and we can add teh TF stuff down the road! The main differences are the select a tune and then flatter boost. The other stuff is more beneficial for larger turbo cars.

so theres no way i could get the selectable one for just the hp tune?

If I were you I would go GMstage1 and leave it alone. Later with good weather you could consider different things. If you already have GMS1 you can save your money till CED

just do a K&N replacement filter. No need to tune for it....I would not poke a stick at your car that runs very well imho

ok as long as things go well ill getthe selectable because it seems like the best route to go and might turn down the torque a little bit do you know what i should expect to see with dp catted, cp, and k&n intake.

I know the Pro version has it's perks. I was just saying it's a waste because personally I would put the money else where that all. haha
