Thread: ABS Compatibility ?

  1. #1

    Default ABS Compatibility ?

There are a lot of different charts & pages about what mechanical parts are compatible with what on here, but, how about a listing of different GM abs systems? I'm curious what systems are compatible between several different GM platforms, especially all the small to midsize ones. So, any ideas to find out if a Solstice wheel speed sensor is compatable with a current gen Malibu? What about the last gen, or a Cobalt?

    Thanks In Advance!

Hey Shab, I think you pm'd me on this earlier, sorry no response. If you could let me know exactly what youre trying to do it would be easier to help, but basically, current gen malibu wheel speed sensors are a different style than older Deltas and all Kappas. LNF Deltas, G6, Z body malibus, Auras, all use the same front wheel hubs/wheel speed sensors. Solstice/Sky use their own hubs.

Yeah, the last of the GrandAm cars used Solstice wheel bearings in the rear of the Balt, this required modified rear beams, and a dummy stub axle as Qwik mentioned. I wanna say that they were still using first gen ABS though because of the availability of GMRacing ABS cals, but I could be wrong. Those cars were all pieced together.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Maven, when you say "Z" body Malibu, you're talking the '04 to '07 bodystyle, differentiating it from the "N" body, right? If someone was trying to use a Solstice front suspension and the front suspension from any of the cars above for a rear suspension, is there any choices that would be compatable, then?

As far as LNF Deltas, versus Current Gen Malibu, what is the difference in the hub? Just the diameter of the axle and spline count?
