    Question New Vision Brakes

Just saw this on css and figured the engineering and technological minds could take a crack at it. Curious on opinions. http://www.newvisionbrakes.com/Default.aspx

    It's an interesting idea.

    1) Who will be able to turn your rotors?
    2) What about as the pads wear down, are they going to be able to keep even pressure across the ridges?
    3) I see a lot of great stress risers for hoop-stress fractures as the rotors heat and cool.

indeed... probably wouldn't be able to turn them.... also how deep are the cuts? your potentially destroying rotor life, and there are a LOT of concernce with stress/pressure and how the pressure it going to be applied to the rotor... also, pad life would be greatly reduced as well

(again i can't see the pics mostly just going off of a mental image i have based on descriptions i've read, i'm picturing a rotor with VVVV cut into the rotor in loops, and a mirror on the pad... if im wrong please correct me)

    Biggest question is why?

All it's giving you is more surface area.

Yes, it will help it cool faster (marganal at best)

Yes, more pad contact area but unless you have the tires to hold it that's meaning less and if you do you probably want/need more aggressive higher heat pads anyway.

Think about this......when you get grooves worn into your brakes you have more surface area right? Do your brakes work better at that point? No. Its going to be very difficult for those intricate and sharply cut pads and rotors to create a nice even transfer layer of friction material. That means less actual braking will be being done and uneven wear will take place. There's a reason why brake companies design pass and rotors to be able to clean away dust and debris as well as ie. A smooth surface, these. Brakes will actually promote debris buildup IMO. All those little grooves for things to stick in, and when the pad rocks one or the other when clamping on a spinning rotor its going to force it to run on one side of one set of grooves and on the other side of a different groove. The pad doesn't want to just clamp in one static position

I have a better way to increase the braking area with out adding rotor diameter

two or more foating rotors with stator pads inbetween!

    Wait that's been done.
