Default Roommates buying a Cruze Eco manual

So the hippie-ish roommates wanted to drop down to 1 car that got good mileage. They were saving up for a EV, but I reminded them they'd need a 2nd car for long trips or to rent one. Then they were looking into hybrids a tad, then the volt, expensive...then the cruze and focus SFE. They realized they both wanted manual transmission (oh ya they are married). So the current gen focus SFE is auto so they are going with the cruze. I was meh about it, it lacks creature comforts, options, specially with manual trans. but if you want high mpg with a non hybrid, its a good car. So they test drove an automatic, and we are going to the cities tomorrow (2 hour drive) to get the red tint coat with black/red interior and convenience package. I'm excited to have 2 turbos in the garage haha. So I thought for fun, I'll let my 1 roomie, Josh, drive my SS. Told him the gear box may feel similar to the cruze, gate wise and feel of shifting, not the clutch etc. So he puts it in 2nd and I told him to floor it...he got pretty excited....well I hope that made him slightly jealous and he'll mod the cruze some to get more mpg

What I want to see/hear, is people with eco cruze, light weight rims, CF hood/trunk, bolt ons and tune, and what they get for mpg....I see on cruzetalk, people range 28-32mpg city and 40-maybe 50 hwy.

I was looking for a pictures from that movie to post, as well... but I couldn't find one I liked.

Back on topic, , I am curious about the kinds of gas mileage they're getting too. I haven't kept up with it, but I know ZZP bought a Cruze not too long ago and have been working on parts for it. I'm curious as to what all is out there. I know Trifecta has one too, iirc.

trifecta is currently doing the tuning for the zzp cruze.

zzp will have intake, o2 housing & dp available soon from what Matt M. said in their thread. of course soon could be from June to September. they're also working on ic & cp.

    http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2010-...98/index5.html

i'm not finding it but iirc, they're around 160whp with just an intake, o2 housing & very moderate trifecta tune.

yea i remember him telling us.

he also told us about the EFR before anything was even posted on the forum..... but then the next day Matt M. had a thread created and about 1000 kids screaming they want it like it was a N'Sync concert.

Cruze eco is my favorite one. I'd through some pedders and sticky tires on that bitch. they NEED an intercooler and charge pipe upgrade like you wouldn't believe. The intercooler is a reasonable size, BUT its sandwiched in between the condenser and Rad. Kills airflow to it. The charge pipes are epic ghey beyond comprehensions. They make the stock lnf hotside look like a free flowing firehouse. The plastic elbows that go in and out of it are super restrictive. Oh, and the intake sucks ass too. It gets its air from near the hood latch, wiggles down under there headlight, into the heavily baffled airbox, back up through the box and finally over and down to turbo. The good news is it should be easy to move the condenser back against the radiator and either put the stock inttercooler with upgraded inlet/outlet pipes out in front where it belongs, or install a nicer aftermarket one, there's plenty of room.
I need to engage in homicidal activity on a massive scale......

Ya the cp's look horrendous. The power is meh, never "fast" but it can move. The boost never kicks in that you'd feel, I know its not suppose to. But the gearbox and clutch feel fantastic. We re driving it home now back seat is cramped where your feet go, but otherwise good.

    No creature comforts?

The Eco isn't some stripped model.

    I love their stance BTW.

Drove behind one up in Elmira, NY and they look damn good going down the road.

Actually, it has a lot less sound deadening material than the other trims along with a few other things.

    Oh I know.

It also has the standard twist beam vs. the Z link the other models have.

    Smaller gas tank as well.

IIRC the Eco has a 1.5" drop from the factory.
