My gas cap never really gets tight, it just spins and clicks like its broken?
Sounds broken. Does it click and continue to click and spin? If it does that's normal. If it doesn't click you probablly need a new one.

yeah It clicks and still spins, the guy at the dealership told it was broken...
Hmm I mean I don't have my car here to look lol and I haven't had to fill it with gas in a loooong time hahaha. I think it tightens after yoou click it but it continues to click as you tighten it. Try someone elses gas cap on your car or just get a new one they aren't much money

Mine tightens down then clicks. Kinda like a TQ wrench
It will keep clickspinning if you try.
Gas caps are cheap, when in doubt, throw it out.

Last night at the gas station I saw a lady turn her gas cap like 3 full turns after it started clicking. If she was only smart enough to realize it wasnt getting any tighter after the first 3 clicks
Yep same here. GM dealership sounds like it's trying to make money or something is actually wrong with it.
Slightly off topic, I love the tether on the gas cap. Back when I had my yota I was always leaving the damn cap at the station

When last driving the Ion in NJ the idiot pumping the gas took the cap off, looked at the tether then YANKED the cap off so he could set the cap on the trunk. Now I know why they have such restrictive gun laws, or do I know why such idiots continue to live? IDK.

I should have known when a 40something came out to pump the gas to move on. If that's your ambition in life to pump gas I don't want you near flammable liquids thanks!
