Thread: Techron Fuel Treatment?

  1. #1

    Default Techron Fuel Treatment?

Anyone here ever use this stuff in their Ecotecs? From what I have read on quite a few different forums this stuff seeems to be pretty good, and not a snake oil gimick. It also seems that the GM Fuel System Treadment is also idetical to what the Techron treatment is. I have been thinking about trying a bottle through my car since the past few tankfuls I have been getting a sulfur smell after doing hard acceleration. About to swap to a different Shell station. Plus I figured I may not hurt to run something through to clean the fuel system up, seeing as I have never put any kind of additive in the car.

Are there any negatives or downsides to using something like the Techron Fuel Trreatment in the Ecotecs?

Good stuff. Go ahead use it, make sure to get the "concentrate" version. Its actually what GM used to recommend before they rebranded it and doubled the price and but a blue label on it.

Alright, I'll give it a try. I have always been kind of nervous about adding stuff like this, thinking that it could cause oil consumption or damage to seals as times goes on. I guess if GM is using it and rebottling it, it must be prety safe then

Red Line Four-Cycle Alcohol Fuel Lubricant is designed to provide lubricity for dry fuels such as alcohol or methanol to prevent upper cylinder wear and fuel system corrosion. Significantly reduces ring and fuel pump wear, piston friction and cylinder leakdown. Do not use with catalytic converters.

Matty: The LNF MAF doesn't like extra air flowing past it and not being tuned for it.
