Question auto trans temp sensor location

(1)Where is a good location to put a temperature sensor for the 4t40e/4t45e transmission? I'm thinking on one of the test ports that faces the front of the car.

(2)I know I'll need an adapter, will it be a 12x1.75 like the plugs on the engine? I have a spare is why I referenced that size.

(3)What is a normal operating temp for this trans, or at least a good range so I'll know when/if I'm going to need to add a cooler?

If you're not going into hot mode you probably don't need a cooler. But a trans and quality fluid can easily handle 240F. Not sure if the test ports would be best choice. Sump temp is important. Is this Cinny from EF?

that would be me, thanks for the info, I'm sure Maven will see this and set me straight. I plan on a power adder soon, and I'm sure thats going to be putting extra strain on the trans.

    Maven has already seen it...

There was another thread about boosting an auto trans car and IIRC what Maven said was something along the lines of a trans cooler isn't needed. It can also be detrimental because it allows air to enter the coolant.

there's a trans temp sensor in there stock isn't there?

my dashhawk is pulling transmission temperature from somewhere in the ECU.

Yup. There is already a trans temp sensor, it's in with the control valve body. An obd scanner can access it.

Still curious as to the best spot to connect a temp sensor for tranny temp gauge as I have the same issue. THANKS.
