Thread: Benefit From Tune

  1. #1

    Default Benefit From Tune

I have a 07 2.2 and pretty much my only mods are Injen sri with a velocity stack, and 2.4 intake manifold. If I got Trifecta or HPT tune, would I really notice it that much. I did lose a bit of the nice torque I had with the 2.2 intake and many said you can get that back some what. I know without an exhaust I wont be making that much more power but I could get my low/mid range power back I would be more than happy. Also would getting tuned for 93 help that much? The stock exhaust kind of limits me but a tune is cheaper and Ill probably leave it this way untill Im done with school.

tune definitely brings back a bunch of the midrange drivability. killing the PE delay is key

Another nice thing about a tune on a 2.2 is revving a little bit higher. With the 2.4 manifolds power shift, revving to 7k or so keeps you in the when you shift.

I ran 93 even before i got tuned or boost, it recommended in the owners manual. I noticed a second or a half off in the 1/4

PE Delay is the biggest advantage of getting a tune, really changed the character of the car from a boring commuter to something with a bit of pep.

like stated, Pe delay kill is what you will notice the most...wont do a whole lot on its own as far as peak power goes, but it sure will help when you put the pedal down...

Agreed, the stock 2.2 manifold and cat are very restrictive. Made a huge difference on mine from about 2,500 and up when I switched to a stock supercharged exhaust. You'd be surprised how cheap you can pick up used exhaust.
