Default Need some help/5557 turbo kit

Ok i have a pwerks 5557 turbo kit on my car right now on a conservative 93 tune on 23lbs. I raced a friend with a ss/tc with trifecta tune/intake/hotside cp/and a exhaust with stock dp. When we raced from a 40 and a 60 no matter what he pulled a crazy amount on me even after im fully spooled. It doesnt make any sense because it feels as if its pulling totally different then a couple days ago. What could be causing my problem? Only thing ive put in my car since the last time is a boost gauge and i T'd that vacuum line into my BOV line. Could this be causing it? Thats the only thing ive changed. Also ive been getting blow out in 2nd gear im on the NGK 1 step colder plugs for a year and for about 6-7 months they were on 91 then the rest of the year on e30. Think it could be the plugs/ It just seems as if i lost a ton of power and the turbo isnt spooling as fast and it was before. I use to make it from 60-100 in like 4-5 seconds *not sure just rough estimate* and now it feels as if its taking a month. Can anyone help

    Check for boost leaks.

    Check for pre-turbo exhaust leaks.

What could cause a pre turbo exhaust leak? Idk if this matters but when i went to change my oil i noticed that 3 of the gold bolts holding the intake side onto the compressor are missing as so is the bracket that holds on there. If you know what im talking about

    Head to Manifold connection.

    Manifold to Turbo connection.

    Cracked Weld(s) on the manifold.

Yes... I know what you're taking about. I would get that fixed, as that could very well be your problem. Those help to seal your Compressor Housing to the turbo. Call Precision directly, or go through Werks... either one should be able to hook you up with new ones. Or just search the internet. ExtremePSI.com might have them, as well... they usually have really good pricing too. They're in PA though, so shipping might take a little while. ATPTurbo.com might also have them, but their pricing is usually a bit higher. They're in CA though, quicker shipping for you.

ya only thing i installed was a boost gauge and the kid who did it said there wasnt enough nylon tubing and he stuck the nylon tubing inside vacuum line when he ran out. And now i think about it i went from boosting 23lbs to 20lbs without even touching the boost controller and then i turned it up more and it still didnt move. So could that be leaking but would that little leak cause that dramatic of a loss of power

little leaks sometimes will do that. my buddies wrx that i just diagnosed when he did the pill pod. he as leaking from a vacumn line and the waste gate was fluttering like it was no tomorow and the car was barely boosting. go through all your lines and make sure they are all zip tied at both ends, check all the bolts and seals, check the mani for cracks etc etc. also i recommend getting the bolts and bracket replacements asap. we can get them for you but it might be easier getting that stuff from perscision as i dont know if we have the parts in stock.

Im not driving the car at all today so tomorrow i plan on checking and changing the lines if needed and tryin to find some more nylon tubing so i can run one vacuum line from the gauge to a source. Ill check the manifold and turbo area see if i hear and leaks so until then its a waiting game

well think i found the problem....I have a coupler going from the hotside cp to the turbo and it looks like the manifold melted through the coupler and made a hole....I heat wrapped the coupler but i guess that didnt want to work. My question is i found aluminum pipe would that last at all if i heat wrapped it or would stainless steel pipe be better

we use aluminum. should be fine. we have like a 8" long section from turbo to the hot side with a coupler on each side. we seem to have VERY good luck with vibrants 4ply couples. no issues yet with mine and im using the same couplers i had with your turbo kit. no melting of the sort with the mani or anything

Just tell them what turbo you have, along with what compressor housing it is. They might not even need that much info.

    From Left to Right: T04E ("E-Cover"), T04S ("S-Cover"), T04SP ("SP-cover" or "Ported Cover")

    T04E is 3" Inlet/2" Outlet, T04S & T04SP is 4" Inlet/2.5" Outlet.
