Thread: Koni yellows and xxx bar?

    Default Koni yellows and xxx bar?

    I ordered some rear koni yellows today and just had a few questions about them how much difference did you feel in the rear and what are u guys adjusting them to? from what ive heard theres no knob u just push down and twist?

    also i have a hardcore bar right now done almost a year of street driving with it and two track days so far and am just wondering how big of a difference did you see going from hardcore to xxx and is it ok to drive on the streets as daily drive with it on? thanks guys!

    hmm i though wangspeed had yellows n went back to turbalt struts , idk word on the str33t is. get ohlins and b happy ^_^

    haha they dont make v3 mac and actually three g speed one last year with sportlines and two this year with hardcore and pedders and all my other ♠♠♠♠ lol

    wangspeed says rears only 268 each (get me a better price mike please) and 2 clicks off full soft. press down to adjust then put on

    i got em for $233 for the pair of rears through my buddy he runs speed shop and pays no tax lol and oh ok cool thanks john!

    Went from stock 2004 RL setup with Progress Rear Bar to Koni's/Pedders/Pgrids/Hardcore Bar and the difference is....let's just say, WOW. Koni's are set up "midrange" up front and 3/4 off full soft in the back. My tires are still way too hard for AutoX running Exclaim UHP's and I still run out of grip before anything gets real crazy. I know John personally prefers the stock FE5/pedders combo but I got a great deal on a set of used Koni's.

    I could see XXX bar for AutoX guys who have the experience and sticky tires. On the track, not experienced enough to know. I probably wouldn't run it as a DD but that's just because I'm a FWD handling newb that needs more seat time.

    okay. anyway you choose deal is done. for my money ucr it makes jacking the car a peach. and it makes it stiffer

    yea ill probably go with those and konis for now and xxx later once im pro status on track lol they come in red and its either weld or bond to car right?

    ive been on koni yellows for 3 years. have to say the upgrade over stock SS/SC struts is night and day. have it set to jar your kidneys on all four corners. No complaints. if i wanted comfortable i would have bought a buick

    I run konis at all corners. Have dyno for rears. I prefer the konis by far, especially if we are talking bigger rear bar and/or springs. The difference is very big. The rears do not adjust while on car. You need to remove the shock, compress and then turn. No clicks. It is a smooth adjustment like all konis.

    I run mine at 1/2 to 3/4 turn off full soft in back ( I forget what it is ) and in front I run 3/4 off full soft. Do NOT run them anywhere near full stiff. We don't have anywhere near enough spring for that and the shocks don't have enough bump valving for that anyways. They have a lot more low speed rebound. No more weird side to side undulating through fast transitions.

    You can get away with just running the rears. Since we aren't changing the spring rate or height much from stock TC up front it isn't as big of a difference. Personally I still like the konis up front but again not a huge diff.

    As far as the XXX bar goes, it makes the car handle much more like a corner friendly car! The hardcore bar was pretty mild and it wouldn't induce oversteer for me unless I intentionally provoked it. With the XXX I can get rotation that I want/expect, but by no means is it hard to control for me. I think the XXX is a perfect match track junkies that have a TC bar up front and Pedders, and at least Koni rear shocks. I wouldn't run the XXX on the stock TC rears. I had enough undulation from the stock TC and hardcore bar. I wouldnt want to try the XXX with the stockers.

    Bravo to John for making the XXX bar!

    well looks like ill try the koni yellows in the rear and then maybe the ucrs and hold off on the xxx bar till next year maybe
