Thinking about swapping to a 2011 for only $50/mo more than what I pay now... My 08 needs brakes and tires which will end up being about $1500 right now. Or for $50/mo more, they will buyout my truck and Ill be in a 2011 with new everything. Would go from a 35K mile truck to a no mile truck as well. Tonneau cover, mudflaps, and all my bulbs all swap over with no issues.
Thoughts? Cons? I mean I know the 2011 will need brakes and tires eventually too, but its one of those things that id be getting almost $7000 in credits from GM from staying in a GM, and right now there is a $1000 autoshow credit so its all adding up to put me in a nicer truck for $50/mo more. Insurance wont hardly budge either. Only downfall is I like the console in my truck now, vs the one that comes in the 2011. Other than that, the 2008 has upgraded front speakers id leave in, and the 2011 has a better deck with USB port...
I say keep what ya got. Everything needs maintenance sooner or later and the sooner you lack a payment the better, IMO.
I hear ya but the kicker is.... they are willing to give me $23070 for a truck with 35k on it that I bought 6 months ago that I paid $23500 for with 24000 miles on. With the rebates its not much of a price difference and my warranty on my truck now is up. Except for the extended one I bought. Basically I'm trying to talk myself out of it but can't come up with deal breaking reasons... new truck for damn near same price as my old truck.... just new and clean.
That's why I jumped on my 2011. Rebates were too good to be true.

vink just do it your mind is made up lol
yeah odds are ill call tomorrow to get things in motion at least. Get it on its way from WI.
Does your 08 have a 4 speed our 6? If it's the 4 speed I'd stick with it. There are a few threads on the Tahoe forum I'm on where people are complaining about the 6 speed shifting hard and sometimes failing. That might be something you'll want to look into before jumping into a new truck.

My dad deals farm equipment and he deals with a LOT of farmers. Who all deal with new trucks damn near every year... But everyone he talks to LOVE the 6spd. Most Ill tow is my car which is 2600lbs, plus the trailer so im not towing an insane amount. The 6spd will help me with some mpg, not much but some that will help offset the cost. From what I read also, its just a lot better than the 4spd auto.
Ya i would go with a 6 speed. BUT if you sold your truck for cash and went to auction you can get a two year old silverado for about 12k $. You gotta have some one go for you and troll a bit , and it may take a few auctions to find the right truck , but way cheaper....you gotta find the right truck on a day when the crazy dealers bidding up are absent.
or do what you are doing.
my dad says they all love the 6spd, i read cases online where there are issues. as much as i just want to pull the trigger on it... I dont have the luxury of getting another vehicle and waiting for another one to come up. Its kind of a once in a life time deal to upgrade like i can... decisions decisions.
I still say keep what ya got, $50 a month more might not sound like a a lot but how deep are you into your current loan?
Only 6 months in is all. I put 10k miles on it and they are wanting to give me $500 less than what I paid 6 months ago. That alone sounds like a good deal.
Do it then, thought you have been paying on it for years. Sounds like a win win, as long as you don't let the dealer rape you on extended warranty, scotch guard, magic super duper uber permanent wax, or w/e else they try and push.
My dealer almost through some bs loss of income insurance on mine for like 1500$ didn't even tell me till I'm looking over the BOS.
We have been dealing with this dealership for 14 years. Bought 2 vans, the 3 Trailblazer LTZ's, a camaro, other silverado, tahoe..... they take care of us. And for what they are giving me for my truck.... its kind of a no brainer....
Insurance goes up $2/mo and i get protection that if it gets totaled within the 4 years of protection, I get what I paid for it, not cash valuehope it all goes through.
Well sad news, couldnt find an 11 in time for rebates and all thatsucks, but I guess Ill take the brand new 2012 they found for same price as that 11 was
Cant wait. I pick it up tomorrow. I get off work tonight and home at 7, so I have to get it tomorrow. Oh well. STOKED!
