    Default S10 stuff

I probably won't be doing much to the Cobalt this year, so I decided to show my DD some love. It's a 1999 S10 4.3L auto, completely stock. There will be a mix of maintenance items and things to make it a little more fun to drive. I replaced the intake manifold gaskets, water pump, thermostat, and a couple other things last year.

    This year for maintenance:
    Timing cover
    Oxygen sensors
    Power steering pump and lines
Upper and lower control arm bushings
    Upper and lower ball joints
    All steering linkage

    For fun:
    4'' lowering kit
    Belltech street performance shocks
Front and rear sway bars (either belltech or ZQ8)
    ZQ8 steering gearbox
    Steel steering U-joint
    ZQ8 wheels

I have the lowering kit and wheels so far. The center caps should be here pretty soon. They're chrome though, so they will probably be painted. I have a full shopping cart at rockauto as well. Most of these parts won't be put on until spring though unless the leaks get a lot worse.

2'' spindles and 2'' springs in the front with 3'' leaf springs and 1'' blocks in the back

One of the gunmetal ZQ8 wheels fresh from powder coating (16x8). I'm thinking 245/50 for tires.

I like the ZQ8 wheels, want them for my Malibu. Eff the ZQ8 box though, get a Delphi 600series, AGR or Flaming River box.
I need to engage in homicidal activity on a massive scale......

I forget sometimes that Malibu's have been around since the 60's. I was thinking of a current generation Malibu for a second

Are those boxes that much better than the ZQ8? Is it because the ZQ8 would be a reman?

From the little amount I research I have done, the Delphi is an OEM box used on newer trucks. I haven't found the one I would need or a price. Unless they are compatible with full size trucks. I know there are several parts that are interchangeable, but I'm not familiar with most of them, The AGR and Flaming River boxes are more than I want to spend for quicker steering.

    I love minitrucks.

S10s particular. Can't wait for finished pics.

My affordable dream project is an s10 laying rocker through air and body drop. Fully shaved.

That's pretty much what it should look like, just a bit lower. Let me dig up a picture as well I don't really miss this one too much though because it had the 2.2. It had a 3/3 drop on Chevy rally wheels.

The center caps came in. The chrome doesn't look as bad as I was expecting.

About the picture in my signature...I have no idea.

I bought some 3M undercoating to try out when I start working on the suspension, but I decided to try it on my grille shell first. It was pretty faded anyways. It's some pretty gnarly stuff. Some of the listed ingredients are propane and butane. It definitely has a smell.

Thanks. I'm considering doing the whole truck in colored bed liner. There is no rust, but there are small dents, scratches, and chips in every body panel. And the clear coat is starting to crack on top of that. Just a possibility. I'm not even sure what that would cost.

It comes in an aerosol can. The number is 8881.

There are a few spots where it chunked up a little, but it's not really meant to be seen. It covers pretty fast.

sweet. a good friend of mine and his little brother are having their S10s built by Little Shop of Horrors in TN. i know his is "done" and they've been showing it around, i think they took it to SEMA in Vegas last fall. it has a Colorado front swap & LS1 swap, slammed to the ground of course. i'm not sure about his little brother's truck, haven't talked to them in a while.
