    Default 08 LE5 differences?

Ok well the other day I got a run in with another 2.4 auto. Except from what I could tell it was an 06? (steering wheel looked different).

He had an exhaust and Im guessing intake. But I slowly just walked away from him. And I did it on heavy 18x9s (255 tires...) and on 87.. (yeah I know...). So I figured this guy would slowly walk me!

And about a week later I ran a new sentra se-r spec v 6spd. And only lost by 1 car length at 100mph (started at 20mph). (figured this guy just couldnt drive).

Now from what I have seen the 08s seem stronger but cant really find any real reason for it. Only real difference I see is a different computer, intake manifold and I think downpipe. We all pretty much know the 08 engines arent as strong as far as the amount of power they can handle due to their rods. But is there a real reason the 08s seem to be faster off the lot than the 06-07's?

    Any ideas on this?

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you. Hope this helps!

What year was vvt introduced into the world of ECOtec? I'm fairly certain it was not introduced until 07 or 08. Coould be a piece of the puzzle.

My wife's 07 SS sedan has vvt. In 08 they did see a slight increase in power of a few hp and tq. Not enough to gloat about.

As for when I think vvt was introduced to the Ecotec, I think it started with the first 2.4. The LE5 is the start of the second generation of Ecotecs. As for being able to pull on a 2.4 auto, I blame the trans. The 4T45e is not a lively trans. It seems that manual trans livened all Cobalts regardless of the motor.

06 has piston oil squirters like the LSJ and LNF does

Other than that, the calibrations(tunes) are exactly the same but the power bump came from SAE with a re-rate

06 LE5 engines are probably the best Eco's that aren't the from the factory F/I

Before i was boosted i ran 87 and then switched over to 93 when i started going to the track. Noticed a big difference, if you read our manual it says if you don't use 93 you will get a slight knock and it won't perform the way it should.

There's 3 degrees of timing difference between the two octane tables.

I also had my full 3" exhaust on which was suppose to be hurting me because i wasn't boosted and it ended up netting more power and a faster time lol!

Well Im an auto thats why i was surprised I pulled on him. And agreed on the 93 making the car feel more spirited. Once I swap out the exhaust and get retuned im sure I will be running the car on 93 for the rest of the cars life. But during the winter I didnt see much point as the car hardly ever gets pushed during the winter.

Just trying to figure out why the 08s seem to run noticeably faster than the 06-07's If you look on css.net and this was my first time seeing this on the street.
Now when I was on 93 with a jet module and intake I was slowly walking 15.5 cars. and from what I've noticed the auto's are more like 16 second or high 15's cars.
Btw I wouldnt of tried the jet module had I not gotten it at a very very cheap deal! But it did work though I think it leaned the crap out of the fuel mixture.... But thats off topic.

    So differences are....

    Oil squirters
    ecm
    intake manifold
    rods
    Downpipe?

And not all of those are in the 08s favor... I honestly dont know. But from looking around the 08s just run stronger... odd.

Even with that... I was on 87 and heavy 18x9 wheels with 255 series tires. it would have to be a pretty worn out 2.4 and it looked well kept. But even with that like I said Ive beaten 15.5 cars while most 2.4 autos seem to run low 16s high 15's. But again who know's......
