Thread: critique me

  1. #1

    Default critique me

    just some random pics.

Canon T2i kit lense polarizing filter

    taken around 4pm local time

shutter speed between 80-200 depending on angle

aperture was whatever tied to the shutter speed

iso was set to either 100 or 200

    anyways:

interesting spur of the moment shoot i got to do today.

i was down on morris ave taking pictures of my girlfriend and her friend and this pulls up and i ask the guy if i can take some pics and he told me as long as they were good and i emailed them to him i could.

turns out he his the President and CEO of Classic Car Motoring. Hopefully going to get to be doing some shoots of some really unique and awesome cars soon,

    on to the pics.

turned out to be a pretty good day. lol

edit: yes that is a supercharger mounted on top of that viper v-10

i didnt ask about HP numbers tho :/

i want criticism for the future as this guy regurlarly deals with lambos and ferraris and betleys.

honestly, the photos looks just like PnS's theres really not much dynamic to them general you want to go with lower angles (closer to the ground) or more dutch (tilting the camera) also what lens did you use ? I would've liked to see more depth of field on some of the shots that could've pulled out the detail/ highlighted some features depending on whats in focus. the first one of the outside back is the best one you have. Generally you don't want to center your subject, Idk how much you've done but it would be a good idea to try to get a firm grasp on the rule of thirds and that will help things compositionally in general. For car shots it's generally a no no to take them from eye level. this site has some good tips as well car photography good luck and happy shooting

Oh forgot to mention that these were for the guy to sell his truck. So he wanted center and chest/eye level shots the back I got kinda low. I was just trying out my new polarizing filter. It worked well. I need to make sure my aperture isn't off.

How do I get more dynamics in the photo. What would take these from good to really good or great?

Usually you will get more dynamic range from using the lowest iso sensitivity that is not in the "expended" range of your camera body. For example, my pentax k-x has a "native" iso range of 200-6400 but can be expanded to 100-12800. Iso 200 is better than 100 for that camera. Shooting in raw and post processing will also allow for more control of the final picture. Also, why were you using a polarizing filter?

Yeah... don't really need a polarizing filter in those shots, at all.

What are you shooting in? Auto? Manual for the Shutter Speed, F-stop, Exposure?

I meant more dynamic shots, but check out the links I posted.. that will help you with composition and such by reading/ trying some of those things... that being said a "well shot" photo will sell a car faster then snapshots every time, they're more engaging and visually appealing

Try different angles, watch out for glares and reflections and you'll be good for now.

That street has really busy backgrounds and reflections on the vehicle. So I used it to eliminate the reflections or least thin them out.

I would have rather done more artistic photos but the hit wanted full frame and certain angles. *shrug*

Also exposure was ale!us between 100-200. ISO 200. Aperture idk. :/

So why shouldn't i have used a polarizer I feel Like it greatly improved the shots. The ones without it suck.

But besides composition what looks to need improvement.

I was taught to shot in Aperture Mode. Lower the F-Stop all the way down. And as said above, set it to the lowest native ISO the camera can do. Non-stock lenses go a looooooong way though. Usually the one that comes with the camera is trailer trash compared to the others available for purchase.

How do you like the T2i? I've been considering upgrading to it.
