Default Cobalt Guru's: I ask some advice

Alright people. I am not much of a Cobalt guy. However, a opportunity has just arose for me to buy a 2010 balt ss 4 dr 25kish on the clock from the original owner. The price will be right around 12.5k, which I feel is a good deal for such a rare car. 5spd G85 limited slip and a bunch of goodies.
What issues have you lnfer's seen- what should a guy look for?
Any of you rocking these all winter long?
Basically this guy has fallen on hard times and I will be assuming payments on this vehicle
    Discuss please.
    Thanks in GMSC advance

Hello... honestly nothing serious to look for on a 201o ss....

I would just check the rear brakes for excess wear, pins not lubed from factory.....

    Price seems decent

I drive it year round + 5+ times at the track a year, 46k "kilometers"... have no no major issues... BPV tank had a leak in it from factory.. warranty fixed it.. rear brakes gone in 5k, warranty replaced...

Oh and if you do buy it... get GMS1 "Order from Tom @ Crate Engine Depot", so you can keep the warranty for 5 years, don't buy an air intake, don't waste your money on anything from the exhaust manifold out.... cat, exhaust etc...

Yeah I am going to check this out this week and see what kind of horse trading we can do. by the looks of kbb it's inline but 11k would be a better deal- I guess we will have to see. Too bad it's red only down fall I can really see with it.

I drive mine 365 days a year. Winter tires for winter - Summer tires for summer duh...
Rear brakes suck = only issue. And get GMS1 for power and piece of mind.
Nothing wrong with Arrest Me Red.

Do it. It's a relatively cheap car to maintain/ track if you please. The rear brakes are actually fantastic. The issue is more that dirt gets on the inner face of the pads and gouges the rotor faces. The rear slide pins do need to be lubed probably twice a year for the average driver. It's real easy and quick.

If the stock rear pads bother you swap them out for something less aggressive. But on track stock pads can't be beat for 99.9% of people.

It is a good year round car as well. People that complain are stupid because they run their summer performance tires in the snow. Buy a decent all season or snow tire for the winter and not much will stop you.

No update yet, guy is currently working nights so It'll be later this week when I try and hash this out with him. I have 2 cars and a truck now for sure 1 would have to go and it isn't going to be my RL. I just have a hard time driving a nice rig like the tc through our horrifically salted winter roads.
Thanks for the heads up guys brakes aint no big thing. I'll be sure and post up with my findings on it.

I drive a 2010 TC coupe, and everyone is right, 12.5K is a steal for that car. I've got only 22k miles on mine and haven't had any major issues. I drive mine year round as well and track it 5-6 times on a serious road track. Blizzaks turn this car into a snow mobile. I replaced brakes (pads & rotors) because of track use, but haven't had any real issues with the rears. Other than that the vacuum tank and PCM were replaced under warranty. I disagree with not doing any boltons. I have full boltons and that really opens up the power. That and a modest aftermarket tune. Buddy of mine makes 313HP bone stock with only a HPtuners tune. I make 359 on E85. But these cars are already pretty snappy right out of the box. If warranty is important to you get GMS1 and call it good for now. Good luck!

$12.5k is a great price! I'd definitely jump on it. And like the other guys said, if you're looking for more power while keeping your warranty, you can't go wrong with GM Stage 1.

Yes on a curvy track like the one I go to regularly brake pads go fast. They become a consumable just like tires

Okay guys, I drove this thing tonight. What can I say, its fu(kin awsome (I say this with great respect to my RL) but damn good seats and good mounts out of the box.
New info: car is far from mint but is nice. It is a 09, 28k on it now. New brakes, pads and rotors on all 4 corners which seems excessive I guess we all have fun. Tires are like new spendy as goodyears.
Under the hood I hear a ticking when the car is idling like a relay clicking every 2-3 seconds, is this a product of the di? Is the Pioneer sound standard in these?
I really want this car; although the dude is playing games with me and I don't like it so that may be a deal breaker itself.
    Thanks in advance
    -Derek

Clicking you here is from the DI and is completely normal. The Pioneer sound system is standard.
