Default So.... as you know I'm engaged...

Well... I have no idea what's going on but my mom and my fiancee have gone nuts now....

My fiancee came home with a bunch of bridal magazines
My mom whom I work with, family owned business... calls my office line and tells me...

    Ring Ring

    Me:Hello
Mom: So... you know how you were saying you don't want an extremely big wedding..
    Me: ummm yea and?
Mom: Well if you invite less people then you can spend more else where better food, horse drawn carage etc...
    Me: Okay..
    Mom: that's all
    Me: Okay bye

Frig two freaking days... i'm swamped at work trying to rack in as much business as I can, working on a new website, working on some sort of promotion/phamplet thingy to get new business.... my desk is covered in paper, business cards & stuff everywhere...

Should have been like me: 2 weeks notice. Small church wedding - Reception in someones Codo party room - 4 cases of beer - sandwich platters
    - 2 days later back in Germany .

Edit: Wifey says it was 8 days before we went back to Uberland.

What is going to get you through the next several months, alcohol, and some green stuff. Just stay wasted the next few months and it will go by fast and will be a hell of a lot of fun.

it'll be very stressful times up until the day of the wedding. something i learned last year when i went thru all this is that you'll fight more about the wedding stuff than anything, so stay strong with your woman and you'll get thru this.

of course that completely depends on the level of your involvement in the planning.

Moms are all excited cuz their baby is getting married. I get random phone calls and texts about the flavor of cupcakes for my shower that's over a year away from my mom..

just nod, say ok.. and leave it at that

Your suppose to have fun with them, not marry them.

When it came to planning for the wedding I told my wife she could do anything she wanted. I didn't care about the wedding, just the honeymoon afterwards.

little update going to sign for venue tonight for Aug 4,2013.. some good news about that day

Sunday - But it's a long weekend so it's perfect
Sunday is 5% cheaper per person.. adds up
Everything else is cheaper band was like $2600-$2800 sat night.. now it's like $1800 sunday
Room needs a minimum of 120 people, sunday no min

Hope everything else is cheaper... going to get a wicked deal on photography "one of my good clients is going to give me a redonkulous deal"..

renting a limo for the night to cater people from venue to hotel too.. should be cheaper "sunday night"

G John's point I think was to not go for the cheap/least expensive thing you can get her to agree to. Personally, I suggest you stay out of the planning as much as possible, let your bride to be and the other women do the planning and set everything up the way they want it. When they ask you what you think, be engaged and responsive, NEVER criticize their ideas! The wedding is way more important to the gals and for them planning is half the fun. "that's a great idea honey" should be your mantra for the next few months. Like decorating the house, let her go nuts and do her thing. You get to decorate the garage . Now having said that you will have to keep an eye on things and make sure they aren't planning on selling off your cars, motorcycles, guns ect...to pay for the wedding.

    I don't know where I said i'm going for cheap/least expensive....

All I was saying was that by doing it on a long weekend sunday, instead of a regular saturday it's a lot cheaper?

I consider that being smart as opposed to cheap

I don't think anyone thought you were trying to be cheap...I was simply pointing out that it can be a pitfall some guys fall into when they see the bill for everything that is planned.
