Is this something to expect? Or not worth the time? I figure if anything its a small cheap mod, just trying to see if people here have been down this road and what suggestions / thoughts were? Thanks

It'll help a tad on a blower car, not worth it really on a turbo car. I'd stick more to just smoothing it out than actually hogging it out. Cleaning up/smoothing out the S/C inlet would more than likely be more beneficial. Unless you're on the TVS... I forget. M62 can use some smoothing, TVS is fine as is.

show me how there is a benefit. You cant reliably measure 1% power improvements on a road wheel dyno. Its a forced induction car, and all this inlet porting crap is just a way to spend money imho. Exhaust head porting. Thats where to spend the money.
You're not really spending money if you use a Dremel.
The head will yield better gains, yes. Its also expensive to do. Smoothing out the casting crap on the S/C inlet and the TB can be done with $5 of sandpaper. If it promotes better flow... its going to help. End of story. Picking up 1% here is still 1%. Do 5 things that add 1% and you're getting somewhere, that's ~10hp on a stock car. Nothing huge... but if its done with small "free" mods... its just something that helps you beat the guy next to you. Its the small things that help to make the biggest difference in the end.

its a forced induction car yu cant measure the difference it will make if any, and the exhaust port is a primary restriction for power in an LSJ, so yu can debate it all you want, but the exhaust port is the single biggest power adder after pulley size on an sc, assuming a good tuner.
you want to polish things give the car a claybar and wax the reduced drag is about as effective as screwing around with a dremel and sandpaper on your throttle body.
ps be careful, you can screwup yur paint if you dont do it properly....
same applies to the throttle body
You keep going on about the exhaust ports being the biggest restriction... I already covered that in my last post. No need to bring it up again. If someone wants to waste their time porting/polishing their TB, by all means, go ahead. I never said it was something I'd do. But to say that it won't make a difference is absurd. Air flow will be affected. Just like changing from a 2.5" intake to a 3" intake... removing a restriction will help. While the TB isn't really a huge restriction, performance will not be hurt by polishing out the roughness of the casting. Same goes for the S/C inlet on an M62.

ill get to the exhaust ports, but not until i do nbs, new timing chain, gmr cam gears possibly, valve springs etc, plan on doing it all at once, not this year though because someone is getting a ring that im saving for. i was just looking for something small for a small gain, came across this elsewhere, figured id ask here
I so wish i pulled that head that jay did before i sold the red headed whore.
Honestly if your antsy in the pantsy and want something to do go for it but head this warning. If you screw it up you might make the car unreliable. John is right you can not reliably dyno something as small as just a tb porting. which when you say porting I hope you mean taper and feathering. When ppl port a tb its to make a combination of things work better as a whole and to eeek out any and all hp. I would do a tb if i planed on yanking a head smoothing out the intake a lil then giving it a rough cross hatch for fuel atomization and then hog the ♠♠♠♠ out of the exhaust side. and i would only do that if i was bored and my hands were not sore and tired from the head work.
in shor tldr just a tb aint worth jack sh!t
Matty: The LNF MAF doesn't like extra air flowing past it and not being tuned for it.
Me: I think dead horse is dead
Matty: Nope, just saw the legs twitch a bit, must beat it more. not sure EVERYONE on this forum understands it just yet.
Me:
I'd run an L61 TB. Its smaller, create s higher intake velocity.![]()
I need to engage in homicidal activity on a massive scale......

Bernoulli's principle ftw! Go science.
pascal. girls name in french. Bernouilli, scientist developed theories and science on flow. Pascal scientist developed theories and science on pressure change with temperature.

I've spent 90% of my money on cars, guns and airplanes.
The rest I've wasted.
I haven't seen too many people do it on the LSJ, so I figured that the gains were no existant and haven't bothered to try it myself. I have done it 1.9 LLOs, and it seemed to give a little better throttle response
