Default looking for 400-450 whp on e 85.. proper fueling

ok so as the title says.. I'm going to be pushing to the next realm soon, I have cams to be put in and will probably will be porting the head to go with it as well as putting in NBS (idk why i decided not to do NBS in the first place) but anywho..

So currently I'm running 60's and stock 2.4L fuel pump ( i have no idea if that fuel pump will be good enough though there has been an auto, 2.4 thats ran 400+ whp on e with stock fuel pump)

I know I'll need at least 80s which I was planning on picking up from zzp . that being said I emailed them about what to do .. and they (zoomer) of course said to by everything and it's mother and that my block can't take the power I'm looking for (80s, aeromotive pump, FP rewire, and brfs) now to me this seems a little excessive.. as people have hit the power I'm looking to hit on far less fuel system mods. zzp insists that stock fuel system can't go over 12 psi on the le5 however i had my car over that with the wideband reading right on target. So I figured I'd get your guys opinions on the matter before i go further

and yes I know my bnr is going to be hard pressed on hitting the upper range of what I want but that's fine.. there's a reason I plan on porting the head/ installing cams/ NBS.. lol it's not a necessity that I hit 450 really i'm looking for over 400 and probably call it a day however you obviously don't want to have to over haul he fuel system twice if i decide I want more lol

some go fast mods i whistle and sneeze now

i'd imagine that 80s & brfs would be enough. not sure of the limitations of the fuel pump tho, hopefully someone will chime in soon.

where are you now power wise?

Fuel pump isn't gonna be a BAD idea, but I don't know on that. And IIRC the rewire is crap but not 100% on that.

yea i was feeling like 80 + either fuel pump OR brfp system would do the trick so obviously when they added 200 bux to what I thought i was spending i was like.. ummm what power wise now.. haven;'t dynoed but probably low mid 300 as i stay right with my friends fully bolted and tuned ss/tc pushing 36 lb/min my car is pushing 34-35lb/min currently

Rewire's never do anything, aside from provide a huge safety factor. As you begin to max the pump, the size of the stock wire can be insufficient. When this happens, the wires heat up excessively from extra current causing a potential fire hazard.

And I've talked to maven about this, and you can search this forum. 06 and up cars have same part number listed for fuel pumps on all Cobalt's.

It's like ZZP recommends valve springs over like 8 psi, yet all Ecotec's use the same valvesprings. So why don't LSJ's need it?

They are out for your money.

Didn't think of the heat implications of pushing the pump harder. However for that use couldn't you just go get thicker wire with the correct insulation?

As for the valve springs, STG3 for an LSJ puts you at what, 18psi? Lol although to be fair it also voids the warranty, but STG2 doesn't

Yes, but consider where the trigger is coming from. That's why its cheaper and easier to just do rewire's then to dig through the stock harness to upgrade the wire.

You don't want an aeromotive 340 with e85, they get eaten up by it regardless of the warranty. Go with a walbro and modify the pressure relief valve, then add a return style fuel system. I wouldn't use a brfs without a true return line for this kind of power. The re-wire kit is a good idea also. With this setup you can do 500whp on e85. You will just have to adjust base fuel pressure to get your idc where you want and then tune.

Just a means of transportation. Coming up on 32,000 miles. Only issues so far was the tensioner and alternator went, oh and rear brake pads.

It's getting trade in come this fall or next spring. It's to slow and I need something different. It's just to bland for me right now.

idk if its just cobalts or not, but we had a kid do the racetronix harness only and his a/f dropped a full point. So not sure how cobalts react but its WAY better to do racetronix pump and harness on our cars. I think the harness is an extra $75 but worth every penny.
